Do you go on field trips?
At Adventures Preschool, we take
approximately five to six field trips during
the school year. These trips are fun and
are used to extend learning in the
classroom. For example, when we visit a
local grocery store, we get the chance to
walk into the big freezer, watch the baker
make rolls, operate the scanner at the cash
register, and see where the garbage goes.
Back at preschool, we set up our own grocery
store in the dramatic play area of the
classroom. In this way, children learn
about their world and try on different
roles. Recent field trips have included: a
fire station, a pumpkin patch, a grocery
store, a dentist office, a restaurant, a
planetarium, and a butterfly house.
We also have visitors in our classroom
during the school year. Recent visitors to
our classroom have included: a veterinarian
and her dog, a librarian, a mail carrier, an
entomologist with a collection of bugs, and
a violin player.
